The Blue Coat Church of England School is a specialist Music, Maths and Science college and sixth form located in Coventry. It is a member of the Inspire Multi-Academy Trust, which was established in 2015.
Fixfire® has completed a progressive upgrade of the site Fire Systems from closed protocol to an open-protocol platform. The current infrastructure includes several multi-loop ADVPlus Range Control & Mimic Panels which are connected via a standard network. Several new areas have been constructed including the impressive Performing Arts Building which includes the installation of HSSD Smoke Detection throughout the void areas and very high level main entrance atria.
A Disabled Refuge Alarm was also installed in order to comply with Building regulations requirements. In 2019, following an insurance stipulation, the system was extended to Category L1. This work included the installation of in excess of 400 devices over the summer holiday period! The existing Fire Alarm Bells were also upgraded to intelligent multi-tone variants and a lock-down facility installed. This enables staff to initiate a distinct lock down alarm utilising the Fire Alarm warning device infrastructure.
This significant site benefits from AlertLog™ the Fire Alarm Management Tool from Fixfire®. AlertLog™ provides instant notifications of any fault or fire event and also prompts when the weekly Fire Alarm test is due, even suggesting which device to test! All activity is logged on an on-line portal.
Fixfire® provides full planned and reactive maintenance in accordance with BS requirements.
On completion of the 2019 works, the school estates manager stated, “The works completed by Fixfire are of a high quality, both the physical installation and relevant documentation i.e. CAD drawings, zone charts etc. All personnel were polite and professional when on site and the supervisors were very knowledgeable. The teams were well equipped with the necessary tools for the installation, as well as their own cleaning equipment. The site was kept clean throughout with no damage to the building fabric or services within”
